Funny! Hopefully we are past the days of judging a woman by whatever she has a girdle on. I guess most people look at cleanliness, not newest styling, a friendly demeanor, good manners as being what is important in a person, not makeup, jewelry, and fancy shoes. Of course, we in this area, are covered with winter coats and boots about 5 months of the year. I do think many have swung a little too far on the casual side. People wearing pajama bottoms and thinking they are stylish. Tight leggings or jeans on a 300 pound lady, pink, blue and purple hair on anyone over 25 are not really fashion statements. I am in a snowman sweatshirt, corduroy pants, a pair of hoop earrings, some makeup, and clean styled hair and I feel I fit in almost anyplace in town on a weekday. Working men seldom dress in suits, and if a woman is in a skirt and heels you assume she must hsve just come from an office. Gramma D

I, for one, am glad that there are no more hard and fast fashion statements. If a 300 pound woman feels okay wearing leggings, more power to her I say. I personally don't think vividly colored hair looks great with wrinkles but if I am not being forced to wear my hair that way, why should I care? If someone is clean that is pretty much okay with me---I think spending a lot of money or excessive amounts of time on fashion is a waste on the financial and time level. The one place I can feel my lips pursing in judgement is the nearly nude fashions in wedding attire. Somehow it seems unseemly, for lack of a better word, to have crop top wedding dresses or the sheer dresses where you see the legs from the crotch down.

Last week in the grocery store there was a lady walking along gnawing on a fried chicken leg while she shopped. I can't imagine Kit or Kate doing that.

Does anyone else wonder what the people who wear pajama pants to the store wear when they go to bed at home? I do, just a little. I hope it is not the same pants that were dragging along the floor in the store and on the fried chicken bone-strewn parking lot outside.

I am glad I didn't live during the time when stockings had those lines/seams down the back of them like Kit and Kate's. I would never have gotten them on straight. I do remember wearing nylons for about a year right before the pantyhose era. Those girdles with the snaps to hold up the nylons were so uncomfortable. The red marks from those snaps stayed for hours after the girdle was off. I still wear pantyhose on the rare occasions when I wear a dress, even though the current style seems to be bare legs. I much prefer to wear a nice pair of slacks and pretty blouse.
