I didn't realize you, too, have a brother with whom you have no relationship. I find it very distressing but thus far have been unable to change the situation. All we can do is try and then the rest is up to them. Growing up I always felt like she couldn't possibly be my mother. Such pain it is difficult to even think about. There have been so many bumps along the road but now in old age God has shown me he has never left me, and I am content. A God given husband of 32 years.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-28891842577781635802016-01-22T12:01:09.532-05:002016-01-22T12:01:09.532-05:00My mom was always one to not want to pick flowers ...My mom was always one to not want to pick flowers and bring them in. It was almost like she was killing a living thing. "They are meant to be outside". Waited for the day when I would have my own garden and I would pick my flowers. I have lots of flowers, but seldom bring any inside. They only last a short time inside compared to outside. I,also, will never be as thrilled with flowers inside as I am walking around my garden in the warm morning breeze, checking to see what is about to bloom, and what needs some maintenance. I enjoy bringing some inexpensive flowers home from the store, but it is never the same joy as seeing them alive and blooming outside. It is just not the same having a friend admire "store bought" as having them enjoy the ones I have planted, nurtured, and am responsible for. I guess maybe part of it is our short growing season. Love nothing more than my hands in the soil, dividing, weeding, pruning. This is something I accomplished, not something some commercial grower who doesn't give them tender loving care feels. Of course, there are days I am out there yelling at deer, about deer, and bemoaning the fact they have eaten all the buds off plants that were just ready to pop! We drive up A1A every few years when we leave Mom and Dad's house to head home. Have you ever gone across on the ferry at the northern most end? We did once when I was a child but never take time for it when we are traveling. Hubby wants so much to do it. We are from Lake County, Florida and when you go up in a small plane over it all there is as far as the eye can see is water and you cannot fathom where people actually live.

I know what you mean about small towns. Our little town where our house is on the lake has a carillon that plays at noon and our favorite lunch spot for fried chicken and mac n cheese is just a block down and across the street. Everybody knows everyone there and after 16 years we are pretty familiar, too.

I have been oddly discontent here in my dream house of late. We so desire a smaller place and the house across the street that we have long wanted to own went on the market and sold before we could even look at it this week. Actually we did look but the realtor got a call on the way to meet up that it had gone under contract and had only been on the market for 36 hours. So now we must find peace in the fact that it is not where God wanted us to go. I have a very nice house that many have envied but it just a too big house to me now. The kitchen renovation is behind schedule and over budget so that just irks me more. It is time to find some peace again and thank you for the reminder.

We are snowed in and it is changing over to a nasty ice storm so we are in for the weekend. I used to make a crockpot full of hot chocolate for frozen children who had been outside playing but there is no need for that today with just the two of us. Kind of sad. I love daffodils and flowers outside, but I don't seem to have the knack for keeping plants alive inside.
So sorry about the loss of your brother, and the struggles with family members. I'm glad that you have found peace with the situation.
Sounds like you have visited some lovely places. We have made a few trips to Florida, but mostly to the Orlando area. Need to check out some of the towns that you mention. We did stop at Flagler beach on our last trip which was cool.
Hope you are staying warm this week. We are expecting possibly 2 feet of snow.Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16710629007170091862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-90927613874481559382016-01-22T03:55:15.818-05:002016-01-22T03:55:15.818-05:00Is Misu still with you ?
