I'd forgotten about that until you mentioned the fabric. Made me smile.
We used to get a basket of candy (jelly beans - ick) and usually a kite or sidewalk chalk or something like that. Then my youngest brother became diabetic, and his first Easter basket after his diagnosis was filled with fresh fruit. The rest of us would have gladly traded our baskets for his.

Tammyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05396880852810370044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-28006015707089532022016-03-31T15:59:07.438-04:002016-03-31T15:59:07.438-04:00I have to admit I forgot about the grand kids this...I have to admit I forgot about the grand kids this Easter as well..... and I had one with me all week! No coloring eggs, no Easter baskets... but my 12 yr old granddaughter told me not to worry it was all about just "being" with us! We did have a nice Easter dinner at my sister's house and she had an Easter surprise for my granddaughter as well.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06120446690878795217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-89322904994211816532016-03-31T00:57:09.469-04:002016-03-31T00:57:09.469-04:00My favorite was a yellow with white3 dotted swiss ...My favorite was a yellow with white3 dotted swiss dress. My all time favorite. We always got black patent leather shoes. I loved getting our Easter outfit when we could each year. The spring coat most Easters was not warm enough as it might snow that day. Also the first service on Easter was the outdoors sun rise service and BRRRR! always a hat and gloves too. Some years they looked like flat white space ships on our heads! Permanents! My hair was wavy but we all looked like Bozo the Clown on Easter with our just- done permanents. :((( !! :-))) Speaking of dotted swiss,...remember the curtains out of it or plissé sheer cotton? They were so pretty. I found an old used pair.
Could you just use 2 strands of chains to redo the purse straps? My purse that I wear over my shoulder got a worn strap. It was just in one very worn area so I cut that area and resewed it a bit shorter. Purses are so personal. I have a favorite style with certain pockets that are so convenient to me. I have a hard time changing purses. I am so used to the same one! I did though get three colored ones a ways back when I started spiffing up my wardrobe...thanks to you! :) A turquoise one, lime one and red one. ! So I do switch. Such fun! I also use small silky scarfs tied at the corner of a purse on the outside for color and fun too. So a black one then has color. :) Target sure had many bright colored purses recently..some in that orange too.
I try to keep a list of easy meals on a card on the side of the fridge. When I am over tired or unexpected company comes I go to this list. On it are meals with ingredients I always have on hand. Some use meats that are in a can so no defrosting necessary. Even when you have meals frozen they tend to be too small for company too...unless you defrost two then there is too much!
I culled some Grace Livingston Hill books last month. I really love her writing but a few just were not favorites. Still after the long hunt to find any of her books I could it felt odd to give them away. I have gathered several books on diabetes that have helped reinforce the teaching of the dietitians and nurses at the classes. Most of it is just good information no matter what. I really must not stop and read titles at the used stores for quite a while!! :) I love to read the odd book titles and guess what the book is about.
Then though I seem to often find some really interesting or useful books. I can pass up a novel but the historical information or other informational books are harder to not snap up at such low prices. Yet I need to pass the book shelves at the stores up for a while. :( ( Well I better stop before this is a book! I always get anxious over visitors too..[especially ,the unplanned ones.ha] Proud all went well.
I had to laugh at your permanent experiences as a child. I always had curly hair as a child, but my sisters got the permanents, and I remember what they all looked like, They and Mama fussed about it.. Mama would tell them, how pretty their hair looked as they cried. lol
Mama made our swiss dot Easter dresses, we also got the white patent leather shoes..
So happy to hear how God has been blessing you two..It is so amazing. If we truly put our trust in Him. He will provide.
Have a blessed week. The last one I remember was a 3 color pastel on that my mom sewed for Nina maybe when she was a kindergartener.
Seems so many blogs are about earning extra and hustling. I am just not cut out for that. My strength is stretching what we have and I think that's yours too. We got a very unexpected check in the mail today - like a message telling me to not worry.
Your outfits are very pretty :)Rhondahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07898829593961271218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-47660294873894503932016-03-30T19:27:42.966-04:002016-03-30T19:27:42.966-04:00I enjoyed the tea and cake and remembering dippity...I enjoyed the tea and cake and remembering dippity do and hair rollers. My hair is stick straight and ogilvee home perms happened often. Now I wear it short. Could you wrap the straps of the orange bag with a scarf, or glue on ribbon or twine to revive it some? I am a fuddy dud with purses. I have 3. Black, brown and cream. The black and cream are the exact same bag. I liked the cream so I ordered it in black. Cream for spring & summer, brown for fall and black for winter. I need to trade out now but dont have the energy. Hope you have a good week. (I may not have thought that back then.)

We dropped the ball on Easter, too and just did not get what we wanted to do for family done so we sent girt cards for them all to go to the movies. Good enough. We went to our son in laws parents for their Big Fat Sicilian Easter. It was quite the thing with 34 of us in their tiny house and cold and rainy outside.

Yay on the kids moving back home!!!

Our dining room is the dumping spot here and it drives me nuts! We actually have 4 guest rooms upstairs in this too big house so there is always space for people to come and we hardly ever go into those rooms but to dust and vacuum. It is crazy to have all this unused space. My go to for unexpected guests is stir fry. A little meat and lots of veggies and rice and people always love it!

Enjoyed the chat!Lanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09380649410508372279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-77214375038087201152016-03-30T17:34:47.186-04:002016-03-30T17:34:47.186-04:00Thanks for the birthday cake, today is my birthday...Thanks for the birthday cake, today is my birthday. I remember the perms, mine was always just before school started in the fall. As an adult, I refuse to get a perm, My Mom sewed most of my Easter dresses and many of them were dotted Swiss. We, also, got a new pair of shoes for Easter, usually white patent leather that we only wore to church.sparky136https://www.blogger.com/profile/00336851749882623160noreply@blogger.com
