I'm too lazy - I just put the whole crust on top and poke holes. Now I'm wanting a peach cobbler with all this peach talk!
Karlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07251936768042830801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-29989595787256213302013-08-05T15:30:19.001-04:002013-08-05T15:30:19.001-04:00Some of the idea of not washing the silver plate ...Some of the idea of not washing the silver plate silverware in the dishwasher had to do with the knives in particular. Most I knew of had hollow handles and my grandmother told us to wash them quickly in the water not letting them sit in it as the handles could be hurt by doing so.

I did enjoy our thought on finding the knife holder. I have two containers for utensils on my tiny counter but a knife one would be helpful as I am in and out of the drawer all the time fetching them. I wanted to get one of those magnetic strips to go on the side of the upper cabinet but all I find are way too long to fit. Prices at the 'thrift' stores sure aren't thrifty all the time! Where do they get those prices from?? !! Yet we find good deal enough to keep us all looking still. Great buy on those knives!! My children all love their RoRos frozen peaches, thawed just enough to eat and with some BlueBell vanilla ice cream on the side.

I've gone to many You-pick orchards with them over the years. They always got Arkansas or Oklahoma peaches, preferable straight from the trees.

I found where I blogged about Nina helping my grandmother shell peas with a bunch of fresh peaches in the background, waiting to be be sliced and frozen.

http://ifyoudostuff.blogspot.com/2009/12/my-homekeeping-schedule.html

Rhondahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07898829593961271218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-67778256045604040462013-08-04T08:23:31.806-04:002013-08-04T08:23:31.806-04:00Hope you are feeling better!

We always eat them with the skin on. LOL! I love homemade peach ice cream. I picked up a small bag of Missouri peaches at a roadside fruit stand on the way to my brother's on Monday. We enjoyed them for breakfasts and snacks. Nothing better than taking a bite and having peach juice run down your chin! My husband's favorite peach cobbler is about the same ingredients cept for a bit of nutmeg. Plus the two ingredients are added at different times.
Peach Festival cobbler
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sliced peeled peaches
1 1/4 cups sugar {I use less if peaches are real sweet}
1cup presifted flour
2 tea baking powder
1/2 tea salt ..or less
1/2 tea nutmeg
1 cup milk
1/2 tea vanilla Hubby loves this flour filling and at times I add a bit more of it to the same recipe...I also sub some of the milk for peach juice.
Do it in the same fashion as your recipe with the exception that the peaches go in over the melted butter and the flour mix goes over before baking. fits into 1 1/2 qt casserole. bakes 350 for 30 min till golden. I found this in my first cookbook. America Cooks from the Federation of Women's Clubs 1967. Many of ouor favorites are in it. I penciled a list of all the recipes we use and page number on the inside of the book as I do ones I keep and use often. It is quick reference for me and when the kids are here and looking for their favorites from childhood they find them easy. Also by the actual recipes we try I write notes and also date we first tried it. That way if I altered the recipe or hated it [ :) ] we know! I know next time I am trying your recipe to see the difference. :) Sarah

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-43289982645428297582013-08-03T06:56:52.505-04:002013-08-03T06:56:52.505-04:00Wow! I read the rest of the post, but couldn't get that out of my mind...

And I so agree about thrift stores that think they're MORE than that. It's getting a little aggravating to me.

Well, off to my busy Saturday. I enjoyed seeing pictures of your "finds", by the way.♥Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08740950362293427086noreply@blogger.com
