I'm just kidding. I have a mini magnolia tree in my back yard far enough away but close enough that I can enjoy its beauty from my kitchen window. I cring when my husband cuts a bloom and brings it inside. I surely can't tell him NOT to do it because he is being thoughtful.

Your chair covering turned out beautifully. You should take great pride in it.

I can relate to being an "old dog" at learning tricks of frugality. I often reread books that first helped me on my money saving journey just to sharpen up my rusty 40 year old mind. I, too, pin lots of ideas whether they are new to me or not. I have quite a bunch of younger friends who follow me. They are constantly asking how we live on one income and raise two teenagers. I tell them it comes from years of practice and lots of prayer. :DStephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04840913102234982646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-15957119995086288102014-09-24T23:56:29.885-04:002014-09-24T23:56:29.885-04:00Me again..Above all they had faith. They talked of it but they didn't really have to as it was gently There without a word spoken. They would have never thought of themselves as being anything special at all. Yet they certainly were weren't they. Yes I wonder too,.. were they lonely? On those nights they could not sleep..and I know there were many of them.. ..how did they cope? Most were born too early to have ever gotten even Social Security but somehow they made it on their own. And helped others too! Do I? Now I too would like to know more of their frugal ideas. I know some and have learned many older ideas they might have used. Again though money was not spoken of. I knew they did not believe in wasting it on trivial things..especially when someone could use it that needed help. They were so giving of themselves and what money or things they had. Am I? God is so wonderful to give us such good people as examples. People to love and revere. You have really got me to thinking Teri ! :-) Thank you. I loved our conversation. :) SarahAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-38195108532281002972014-09-24T23:45:43.166-04:002014-09-24T23:45:43.166-04:00It was so nice to 'talk' again. As plant saucers, as edgings as decoration.Inside on the walls or behind a picture on a table..where ever they work! I like a jumble of several different patterns on a table too if they feel right together. We only have one set of dishes we use daily but I can change out some of the extra things to make it different. We have Fiesta. dishes, linen things ..all the old basics! They are so much fun to see and use! Please watch to not over do. I should say that to myself. I over did again just yesterday. I thought I would only work so long but did longer and too hard. It did feel wonderful seeing things in order..but being in pain and trying to sleep that night was not so wonderful! :) I gave up on a book today. I tried and tried to get interested in it for several days then gave up. May be someone else can understand it! I found a craft magazine and a Gooseberry Patch book used today. They had craft ideas new to me and use things I already have too. A win win. Why that chair cover did not buy is a wonder. It is so pretty!!! You did a great job combining those two pieces! I sit off and on and wonder how my relatives did things too. In this or that situation. Oh how I wish I could talk to them and ask! They seemed so content. I never really ever heard them voice a thing about wanting things they did not have. They had for the most part, the same furniture and everything through my whole childhood. Some of that was even hand me downs. They kept their homes neat and well cared for. They always found something to do but stopped and sat when any company came. They always made anyone feel special. They were simple folks as were most people we knew. Very grateful for anything and everyone. I am sure they had their down times and I have heard about times they were very low in finances and such from others in the family but not from them. They were the center of our world. Kind, wise and good mentors you knew they had your back and you would always get the best advice they could give. Or if you needed it anything they had. There was only the basics in their homes but somehow they always made due and kept on going with a smile.Would I? The same basic cooking, flowers round the house etc. Yet it was extremely homey and comforting to be there. It seemed they too loved it all. Would lI have been so content? Would I kept my thoughts to myself? How do I present myself to sudden company? Do they feel as welcome as we did in their homes? Some of them had to give up their own homes and move in with a son or daughter. That would not be easy. Their own homes were way in the country too far from family. Since they were now widowed or a widower they were told they should move closer. so they gave away most of the things they had and moved into a room in someone else's home. Could I do that so graciously? Could I give up having my own home and move to a place where only a room was mine? Toot long...SarahAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-48320101720497923122014-09-24T20:34:34.362-04:002014-09-24T20:34:34.362-04:00I enjoyed our visit and I think your slip covered ...I enjoyed our visit and I think your slip covered chair is charming!
