I don't know what a Vellux blanket is, but I'm assuming it's a minky style blanket. I inherited a bright red woollen Queen size blanket from my MIL. It came wrapped around some furniture. This was 15 years ago. They last.
Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06964345893499561504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-38045549875762288882016-12-01T22:40:15.491-05:002016-12-01T22:40:15.491-05:00Love Misu complaining about the weather. So happy ...Love Misu complaining about the weather. So happy for you that you had a nice Thanksgiving, in spite of the little ones almost scaring you to death with their antics. My grandson brought our tree from the basement and there it sits. Tomorrow it may get decorated. Gramps suggested we just leave it and tell the kids we are going natural this year. By the time i get the house done, i may agree with him. Today at our MOPS group the gals made tiered servers using some dollar store candle holders and plates they had picked up at thrift stores. They turned out really cute. Enjoy your decorating! It didn't happen. This fall we got more rain than we did last year already. it is wonderful. So far nothing has flooded and the earth is beginning to green again from all the dry year before. It will dry up again as the winter winds come but it looks nice now. Most of our lawn is weeds now but it is green! :)
We got our fist Christmas card today and many neighborhoods have beautifully decorated homes. Going out to see the lights has always been a part of the holidays. From childhood on. I wish the department stores still had large display windows that they had the animated Christmas displays in. The store windows were decorated differently for every season and sale promotion. The Christmas windows were the the triumph though ! Even homes used to open their front windows and have special displays to walk up to and look in. I guess every generation has their share of their own special wonders to look back on.
Thank you for you beautiful blog backgrounds. It feels like you could just walk into this one and go visiting doesn't it. It is so homey and beautiful.
Seeing the holidays through a child's eyes is the best. They are gathering all those memories they will look back on for the rest of their lives. Being with loving family members and special times. Isn't it wonderful of God to give us different seasons and celebration times . Then life is a celebration. Several months ago, at am estate sale, I purchased one. It was still in the sealed original wrapper. When I took it home and laundered it the blanket dissolved in my washing machine! It completely came apart and seemed to melt. I had the biggest mess ever. Had to try and fish out the soggy mess from my washer (did not want the watery mess to clog my washer drain). I bailed water and gunk for a long time. I am short and my washer is deep, so this was a real fete for me. Don't ever want a Vellux blanket again! The new one arrived and was ...No tree up here yet. The new one arrived and was broken and we decided it was hideous anyway. It went back. So now the dilemma of what to do. We did sort all the stocking stuffers last night and have the 15 stockings done. Whew! I am puttering along on decorating. Maybe I will get it done by Christmas! I am okay with being so unconcerned. :)

I hear you on the clothing. I have finally decided that I am only buying pants from Avenue from now on. Yes, they are expensive but they fit me perfectly and I wear them util they are threadbare so they are well worth it. I did buy some long sleeve tshirts from WalMart about a month ago. I really like them but I already have 3 tiny holes in the front of one of them. I am stumped as to where they come from but it happens to many of my shirts.

I cannot do the 2017 budget until we get our first January pay and it always makes me feel antsy to not know where we stand. We are done dumping big money into the house and are ramping up our car replacement savings. It is just a matter of time until we have to replace one of our oldie but goodie vehicles. I will still be saving for home improvement as we will certainly need another heat pump in the next few years but it will be much slower now that I have moved funds to the car savings.

Thanks for the chat! I always enjoy hanging out with y'all!

Lanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09380649410508372279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959918163454225829.post-24296184005223429952016-11-30T16:11:12.853-05:002016-11-30T16:11:12.853-05:00Enjoyed the chat..
