The Homemaker Plans Her Week: Summer Break Is Over

On Monday, Millie and Caleb will be off to school to meet the teacher.  That's two babies off at once and it's already made me nostalgic.  There's one more grandbaby to come and then there will be more additions to the great grandchildren side eventually...But right at this moment, my heart twists a little bit.

Yes, the same woman who has chomped at the bits wanting her own freedom and time to do the things she wanted to do...I'll miss the children just the same.  From now on, it will be a challenge to fit in a visit when they aren't in school. Of course, there will be more summer breaks.  Perhaps next year, I can get Caleb and Taylor here for a few days.

Well, the school year also is a trigger for me because I am suddenly mindful that I've been floating about like a bit of fluff in the wind all summer long and now it's time to get back to work and get prepared for the season ahead.  It's NOT fall...But y'all, I feel it's coming early this year and there's much to be done to be prepared.  August will be a month full of plans...

In the meantime, we will finish off July this week as well.  One month ending, a new month beginning, a season with the children ending, a school year begun...Life is just full of beginnings and endings, isn't it?  Overlapping one another, making it hard to recall just what ended and just what began, and which came first.

Work:

A new month means new goals and this month, the goals list will be heavy.  August is going to be a month to make up for all the work I didn't do the past two months.

I'm going to look over my few goals for this month, plus the weekly ones and try to catch up on all I didn't do.  Plants to be potted, herbs to be harvested, flower beds to put to rights (NOT heavy work just trying to arrange pots and make the beds pretty once more now that we're getting regular rain), get the pantry fully in shape since I made a mess of them last week shoving things in just any which way.   I don't expect to start a new month with a clean slate, but I'd sure like to not have a bunch of additional things I didn't do tagged on to it!

That's my big push, to make goals for next month (I realize it starts this week) and to do what I can of the goals I made for July and didn't get to.

Continue bootcamp.  I got off track with that cold and there I sat on the sidetrack all this time.

Kitchen:

Clean the fridge.

Mop the floor.

Make bread.

Plan meals.

Personal/Leisure:

Get peaches.  I know I've only a couple of weeks to find peaches in my area and then the season will be over.  There's never enough time or enough peaches in any summer for me!

Set up wardrobe for the coming week or two.

Go to the library, even if the kids don't want to go once summer is over, I can still go browse and bring home some fresh things to read.  I really have enjoyed having some new to me authors to enjoy.

Remember that new hairstyle I was going to look for.  Need to get busy and do that.  Then when my hair is shaggy and bothering me no end, I can take the 'new look' to the salon so they can see what we're working towards.

My week is thankfully a less busy one than last week or the week following. I seem to be having a lot of medical and dental and self-care appointments all at once. I'm not sure why it ends up that way but I supposed at least it gets it over with. I have a couple of errands to run on my lunch break today, chiropractor after work on Wednesday and then nothing else but the usual the rest of the week. Next week is a totally different story but we'll let those stay there and not crowd this week. I'm hoping to get some rest in, I pushed really hard last week with adding in exercise for myself plus a walking museum visit on Saturday with hubby (the Stafford Air & Space Museum) which was amazing and interesting but also tiring on these not great feet. Then yesterday was a really pushing it day with cleaning out some things in the outdoor shed and delivering a mower to a friend in need (we don't use it) then grocery shopping and cooking and laundry. I am sitting at my desk at work this morning trying to stay awake. LOL
