Last night I glanced at the weather before we headed to bed. I couldn't believe it. We'd gone from the promise of a sunny week all week long to one filled with rain and thunderstorms!
Well, the rain today has been lackluster. It's cloudy, overcast and breezy but about the time I think it's not going to rain after all it sprinkles just enough to be uncomfortably wet. Then it stops, the sun peeks out and about the time I think it's over, it clouds up again and we repeat the whole process.
I went out first thing this morning with my coffee. Rufus allowed me to trim a whole four-inch line before he decided he'd had enough of it. Stinker. I had a sharper pair of scissors, and it was a lot easier on us both, or so I thought but there you are. He's terribly impatient about all of this. How do I know when he's had enough. He moves two feet away from me and lies down. If I get up and go to him, he gets up and moves two feet more away.
I planted all of those loose seeds this morning. Will anything come of it? I don't know. I've seen no evidence of anything at all germinating. Mind you I am a 'if I plant it tomorrow, I want to see progress today' sort of seed Sower. However, nothing I've planted in the past two weeks has done much of anything. I am desperately looking for flowers outdoors.
There's not a lot of housework that needs doing. I checked the blinds here in the living room and they do not dusty at all. I dusted furniture yesterday.
I had sat down to go through the online weekly grocery ads when I thought I heard a car door shut. Sure, enough Sam tapped at the door a minute or so later. He had my new Air Fryer in his hands. The Fed Ex guy we all like a lot had dropped it there along with his packages and asked if Sam would mind running it over to us. Lest you think this guy was being lazy, he's not. He is the only one working this route with Fed Ex who ever actually makes his way around to us all, so when he's had a couple of days off, he comes back to find all the packages stacked and waiting. Remember the whole dog food fiasco I went through early last December? That package arrived January 11. I ordered before the end of November...
Never mind. We unboxed the unit which is much larger than my old toaster oven. It's more square and taller but it's not huge by any means. Sam suggested I run it empty with the trays inside for a bit to burn off the new smell, so I fiddled with the knobs and buttons and then sat down with the instruction booklet while it heated. Sam, John and I sat in the kitchen and talked about much of nothing for a good thirty minutes.
I realized that I took out nothing to thaw today that we might cook in the air fryer tonight. Oh well. I will use it and sooner rather than later. I'm pretty pleased over all with the whole thing. And no doubt I ordered it just in time, as we made toast in the older oven this morning and I had to add extra time to toast it.

When our toaster oven started to go a few years ago we replaced it with a combination air fryer/toaster oven and absolutely love it. It's opened up our counter space and offers two appliances taking the space of one. Hope you all are enjoying your new appliance as much as we did!
I am laughing! So me. I fiddled with the knobs then read the instruction book. Drove Dick nuts when he was alive. We finally had 2 fairly nice days and now it is back to rainy and cool here. Nice to have an unexpected visit from Sam. You made a comment in your post the other day about comments being lacking. I am one of your guilty followers who looks forward to your writing and then doesn't respond. Have a lovely day.Gramma D
I've now tried every function. It works wonderfully well and I LOVE the air fryer function. I baked a beef roast in it last night and we've made toast and heated up frozen fries and chicken nuggets. Awesome little machine!
We were looking at our weather and it's meant to rain every day for the next ten days. Truth is that even when rain hasn't been predicted, we've gotten hit with brief showers and then on the days it's meant to storm we've had only short brief bursts of rain. I personally enjoy these sorts of summers over the ones that are achingly dry and stupid hot. It makes for a lovelier summer overall.
We have had so much rain lately and are due for even more rain. It’s a nice change compared to the droughts we have most years. Our HVAC bit the dust last weekend and oh my goodness it was literally 95 degrees in our house when I got home on Tuesday evening. Thankfully, on Wednesday morning we had new unit installed. To the tune of $11,000. Ugh. That hurts. Thankfully, we got 5 years at 0% financing but my goodness they don’t make things like they used to. Our original unit lasted at least 15 years but this last one only lasted 10 years or less. Thankfully, the day they installed it was a high of 60 which is unheard of for this time of year.
Oof! Our current unit is over 13 years old. Our last was about that old when we had to replace it. On this unit, we've replaced the compressor twice, the fan blades twice and the fan motor once (broken fan blade penetrated it). We paid $5000 for this unit and I knew they'd gone up a LOT since then. I was figuring we'd pay about what you said yours cost when it comes time to replace.
