A Late Menu Post...Stormy Weather

I was roughing out a menu plan early when the thunder that had grumbled and rumbled and complained all afternoon long finally turned into a heavy downpour.  That heavy downpour soon became a rather rough and rowdy thunderstorm.  We lost electricity, hail pelted down, and then I heard a sustained roar of wind and the floor under my feet shook a bit.  I ran to get John, who was strumming guitar in the music room and we dove into the bedroom closet (center of house and the only safe spot here on our place).

After sweating it out there for a bit, we noted the rain had slowed and the wind was less.  A peek out the windows revealed the pump house roof lying on the ground between the house and the pump house.  We peeked out the front door and saw a couple of broken branches on The Faith Tree (so glad our Faith Tree is a strong tree!).  The yard was pretty much flooded in the low lying areas.  When we opened the back door we discovered half the turkey foot oak's branches were in the yard...oddly enough the trees didn't lose even one of the dead branches that I can't reach to trim out.  Nope, it was the nice green LIVING branches that broke and blew down the yard, sigh.

I checked with my brother and niece and they said all was well.  Ashley said they had some trees down at her place. I hope it's just branches for the most part, but the trees down there are far more mature than these on the top of the hill.   I've checked up on Maddie who was not in the dog house with Trudy as I supposed, nor in the other dog house (only Misu was hiding there).  She was soaked and not a happy puppy.  She won't come indoors but wouldn't move from the doorway so I could shut it either.  Not even a biscuit was wanted.  She just looked very unhappy.

Well, the storm has passed, the electricity came back on and tomorrow we'll be picking up the yard.  At least we know what the plan is, lol.  So on to meal plans:

Turkey Tetrazini, Steamed Green Beans, Tossed Salad, Angel Biscuits
I made a roasted turkey this afternoon. We had sandwiches tonight.  I've already divided the turkey and put the majority of it in the freezer.   There's going to be a couple of dinner time appearances and some turkey salad, too.

Shish Kebab, Baked Potatoes, Iceberg Wedges
I have some sirloin tip roast in the freezer that will do nicely when cubed for grilling.  That's why I chose this cut of meat last time we made a trip to the meat market.  Sirloin Tip is very versatile, easily cut into steaks, cubed for stew or grilling, strips for stir fry or to use as roast.

Black Bean Tacos, Yellow Rice, Shredded Lettuce Salad with Pico de Gallo
I opened a can of beans a couple of weeks ago and froze the remaining portion.  I'll thaw and season with taco seasoning and make tacos or burritos.

Turkey Salad in tomato case, Squash Casserole, Green Peas, Angel Biscuits

Baked Sloppy Joes, Corn on Cob, Coleslaw
I'll use some of the angel biscuit dough and fill with sloppy joe mixture and cheddar cheese.  These bake in the oven just until the biscuit is cooked.

Turkey and Wild Rice Casserole, Steamed Broccoli, Peach Salad
I haven't made this casserole in a long while.  I'll half the recipe and put one casserole in the freezer for a future meal.

Minute Steaks, Hash Browns, Tossed Salad, Angel Biscuits

I'll cut the rest of the sirloin into thin minute steaks and panfry for a quick meal.  This meal should finish off the Angel biscuit dough.

Baking plans this week: Challah bread (for Shabats), Angel Biscuit dough (keeps in fridge and can use as wanted), Banana Pudding

Good morning, I may just borrow your menus next week when we have company.
We had a similar rain and wind situation Friday night and Saturday morning. Just 2 houses down, a tree snapped in half, just 4 feet off the ground, we had no damage though. Even my little seedlings all seemed to survive the drowning.

Sounds like my kind of weekly meal plan! So delicious! Would you be willing to share or point the direction to the Angel Biscuit dough recipe?
