I know February is the shortest month of the year, but anyone else feel like it was about as long as could be? Mind you, we had a lovely mix of weather: cold and warm, wet and dry, cloudy and sunny. Variety was there, but the weeks just lingered and lingered...Or so it seemed.
And may I confess that the older I get the harder I find it to take the cold? On Thursday when I was out with Mama, I stopped to refill her car with gasoline and despite having on several layers of clothing, I was chilled to the bone by the time I hopped back in the car. That wind was cuttingly cold. Brrr! I still shiver just remembering how cold it was.
Well, here we are in week four of the month and I am glad that it is to be the last. I know from past experience that March will be much like February (usually...last year was a wild exception), but there's hope in the month what with leprechaun's and spring.
Let me stop chattering and get busy planning my week.
1. Clean the guest room. Seriously, I didn't do any of the work type tasks last week at all. I worked plenty but I was also gone two days and that eats up time I might have used to work on my home. I've just ordered the loveliest pair of curtains for this room. That's incentive enough to get this room cleaned up.
2. Clean off the patio and back porch. It's getting to be porch season. I need to get outdoors each day anyway and get some sunlight and fresh air. I've become a potato this winter.
3. Straighten, tidy, organize areas all over the house. My dresser drawers are in a huge mess since I bought new underthings and after washing just tossed them into the drawer. Under the bathroom sinks is looking fairly gritty, especially in the master bath. These are spaces I missed when I was doing that big sorting out in January. I also need to get the baskets in the bathroom closet sorted out and take a proper inventory of what I have in them. Etc., etc., etc. There's work to be done.
4. Get to work on a study project I've been wanting to do. Repeatedly as I was reading the Sarah Clarkson book, Reclaiming Quiet, I kept feeling this urging to do a word study on a word that kept coming to me while I was reading. I think I'm ready to get started on that project.
5. File paperwork. We did our taxes the other day and I ended up pulling a pile of papers from the filing bin I have...Unfiled paperwork...I had to sort them out and I remembered what a mess it was to sort it all out in January. It's been a month. I'm going to try and get filing done at least once a month and keep on top of it.
That's enough. Some of these 'to do' items are going to be far more labor intensive than they appear in mere words. If I can manage these things, I'll call February finished off nicely.
