The other day when I stepped into the living room, I noticed how horribly stained the seat cushion was on one of the kitchen's chairs. I also noted that the paint job on the entry shelf was shoddy looking. I have to buy a paintbrush, but I found the paint I'd used and there's plenty of the paint left....
I failed to plan my day today and I drifted about doing this odd job and then that one but not doing anything much at all. It was not looking to be a productive day and then as we ate lunch, Sam came by and talked for a couple of hours. When he and John went back to The Manor to do something on the truck, I grabbed one of the kitchen chairs and took the seat off. I had fabric, foam, staple gun...I just needed to do it. So, I did. Now the chairs look nicer, and I've attended to another task that required effort and nothing more.
When Sam came over, he brought a package of chicken thighs for me to cook up for him. This is highly unusual, really, because Sam is quite the cook himself and seldom wants anything done for him, but I've got a recipe each of Tandoori chicken and Souvlaki chicken marinating in the fridge tonight for him. Tomorrow, I'll put them in the oven to bake.
I've decided I'm going to bake a ham for our Easter Dinner. I bought a spiral sliced one because I thought it would make it easier to deal with the leftovers. Baked Ham, Mac n cheese, Asparagus, Ambrosia, Biscuits. I'd promised John I'd make Ambrosia for this week and never got to it. I think it would be a perfect dessert, nice and fresh.
There's so many macaroni and cheese recipes and I've made most of them. I usually make a cheese sauce, but I think one made with grated cheese, eggs and milk would suit Ham better than the other which can come across very starchy and heavy. This way the protein content is much higher as well.
My plan for tomorrow: Make ahead mac and cheese, glaze ham, make ambrosia and biscuits. I also thought I'd make some Sausage Cheese Balls and boil some eggs. My plan was to dye the eggs and serve them for our breakfast. I'm feeling nostalgic for dyed eggs this year for some reason, so why not?
Tomorrow is home blessing day. I have meals all prepared except for breakfast. John's requested French toast which sounds rather nice to me.
And that's quite enough from me for today.

That sounds like a nice Easter meal.
I haven't planned anything yet, and told Greg today that I just don't feel like making a meal for everyone. The grands are gone to their other family and Jessica's going to work the buffet at the local diner. I'd like a holiday off. He was fine with that. I may well put a pork loin portion in the crockpot and invite J and N for supper, but that waits to be seen. I've been sneezing all day and my nose is getting pluggy. Ugh.
We looked at plants at Menard's (like Home Depot) today and they had ferns. I thought of you when I saw them. Lol.
