Remember when I made all those plans for the last week of July? Was it really just last week? Yes, it was and then it all went kaplooy. Well, there's reason why I might/maybe/just possibly could work on that list this week. I posted it here.
My seed packets have begun arriving and I am indeed planning to get them in the ground this week.
But just to show you how things go. I was so weary by end of last week that I literally went to bed at 7:30pm on Friday night and yes, I went to sleep. I basically napped off and on until 10pm and then we went to sleep for the evening. I won't tell you I had a great night's rest.
I've been experiencing cramps/contractions most nights. I'll be sleeping just fine, wake slightly and have to roll out of bed and stretch my legs. From all I can find on the matter, it's something about 1/3 of people in their 60's experience and the contractions can be severe enough to leave your muscles sore for days on end. The suggestion is magnesium glycinate and Vitamin B6. I have to buy both.
A friend had recommended Taurine which she found effective, and I did try that but no help to me. I handed that bottle off to her today at church so one of us would have good off them.
Saturday, we went to the Homeless Mission Outreach. There are faces that are quite familiar to us by now. One young one I've watched grow from a babe to a toddler. He came in upset yesterday crying at the top of his lungs which is odd for him, as he's generally good natured. He'd wanted to stay outdoors, and it was just too hot for him to play outdoors.
When John started playing, he flew up pointing his finger and holding up his hand yelling "Stop! Stop!" He usually has enjoyed the music, but it bothered him a great deal that John was playing and singing. However, John, thinking he wanted to join in with the music reached in one of his bags and pulled out a maraca and told him to join in... And he did! He was so pleased to be part of the music
And his joy turned many a dull face into a smiling one! That maraca was a maraca and a microphone and when the pastor got up to speak, Little Man was right there beside him chatting away into his 'microphone'...Goodness! We've no idea what that little moment might birth in this young child's life!
Someone brought in a bunch of those old paper board fans and passed them out around everyone. That helped make it a little cooler. The AC has a hard time keeping up. It reminded me strongly of the church where I grew up. We had window fans and paper fans to use during our services for many years. The fans were a promotional item from the funeral homes. I was much amused that was exactly who had provided our paper fans to use on Saturday, lol. Some things never change in the South.
When we came in yesterday, I made Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches for our meal. That's something I seldom will make, but John loves them so. I wanted something quick and easy. This worked! And after lunch, I took a nap in my chair. When I woke, I got up and went to bed and took another nap! I don't even know who I am... Seriously, I was just so tired.
For supper we had leftovers of Thursday's Feta Dump bake. I added a small bit of cream cheese and the last of the can of tomatoes I'd used to make the original recipe. John said it was even better. I suspect what he liked this time around was that the orzo had absorbed all the liquid, which is never his favorite part of pasta with sauce dishes.
For entertainment, we found Amazon Prime now offers the Mountain Man series and I was over the moon. Over the moon and dead tired. I begged John to just turn it off by 9pm because I was so very tired still. To bed early and slept the night through.
We had a lovely day at church. Went by Kroger afterwards where I picked up some produce: plums, bananas, onions, lettuce, potatoes. Potatoes are shocking in price in our area, over $1 pound. Still cheap as vegetables go, but I am envious of those who find them for 30c. I got a 2-pound bit of sliced ham from the meat counter for sandwich meat. It compares likes this: 2 pounds shrink wrapped, sliced boneless ham portion for $8.99 compared to 1 pound of deli sliced ham @ $11.97 per pound. I bought a big packet of bacon, because John has requested BLT's for sandwiches. And I indulged in a package of Cubed Steak. It used to be cheap to eat cubed steak, cheap enough that we'd often have it as sandwiches in the summer. It's not cheap anymore! I also bought butter and eggs on sale and did the full stock up on those of buying 5 of each. And I grabbed a packet of 4 pecan sticky buns for John who finds these a great treat. Frankly I don't understand his love of them but when they are marked down I will indulge him.
I have a little bit of money left in my budget. Since I do indeed plan to begin a serious pantry and freezer challenge time, I should have enough of everything to do me until next pay period and the next lot of sales.
We came home and had a semi-homemade lunch. I grabbed a sale priced packet of cooked ribs for our luncheon/dinner and added Sam's homemade pickles and a can of baked beans to complete that meal at home. And then we did light housework in an effort to start out ahead tomorrow and not behind.
We will see how the week ahead goes. Maybe I can accomplish a few things here and there through out it simply because I can be at home.

We're in a heat advisory today and tomorrow. The humidity is such that my windows are fogged over each morning. It's not even cool overnight/early mornings. You know how animals hibernate in the winter? That's how I am in the hot heat of summer. Lol.
I will need to go check on some garden things. I know there are garlic scapes to cut. I can harvest the garlic in a couple of weeks. We're finally getting green tomatoes. Getting some airflow to the tomato plants really helped. The weeds were, well, thick and enormous. Did I tell you about the bunny nest next to a tomato plant? I pulled up a handful of weeds and the ground started screaming. Scared the daylights out of me! I put the weeds back on top of the nest and it silenced them right up. Last I knew, they were still there and still alive. We did see a mama bringing mouthfuls of grass under the riding mower one morning, so I'm thinking she was moving them. Greg won't move the mower until we're sure there are no baby bunnies under it.
I should get busy and be productive inside, though I'd like to just sit here under the ceiling fan and read my book as I sip on an iced drink...
And all I ever find while gardening is toads and tree frogs...I can't imagine how you felt with the bunnies screaming, lol. And poor Greg having to leave the lawnmower alone until the family is raised...
I've been overly productive today so I'm good and tired. But I was afraid I'd be needed elsewhere so worked double time and doubly hard just in case anyone said, "Mama...Can you...?"
Greg is on the same page with the bunnies, and has a couple of other mowers he can use. Lol.
As I was weeding the first day, I stepped back and got a drink of water, then we decided to break for lunch. As I went to pick up my supplies, there was a garter snake wrapped around a weed stem - one I would have been next to pull. Those screaming bunnies were nothing compared to the heart attack if I'd grabbed that weed!
I hope you do try the Magnesium Glycinate. If you take it at night before bed, it also helps with sleep. It's done wonders for me but Glycinate is the best type of Magnesium for both the cramps and the sleep.
