The Modern Home Economist - Sewing Lessons

I didn't mean to take such a long break between posts.  I've been busy, though, not just lax, but genuinely busy.  I really hadn't planned to do a post of blog links for this series but I stumbled upon this blog the other day.  Not only does Deby sew, she has a post related to links on sewing and highlights video tutorials in some of her posts.  I thought it really was a great site to tool around and learn a bit about sewing if you're a novice.  http://so-sew-easy.com/http://so-sew-easy.com/

Deby also has a terrific tutorial on putting in an invisible zipper.  The  method she uses I recall seeing a sewing expert demonstrate on television a few years ago.  I was astonished at how easy it was because I well recall the struggle to put in a zipper.  I used to follow the instructions on patterns and they never NEVER had you put in the zipper until the seams were sewn.  Let me tell you the method Deby demonstrates is the only one I shall ever use in future!  It just makes good sense to do it this way.

Deby also has a Pinterest page with lots of pins related to sewing blogs, free patterns, craft ideas, etc.  You really need to stop by and see some of her work!

Thank you for this resource. Oh how I used to sew and sew and sew but it has been quite a long time since I sewed for my wardrobe. When I went to Joann's for the first time in years I was floored at all the different products etc. I also know how much I have Forgotten I once knew how to do!!!! I am itching though to get back to some sewing for myself and our home. Your posts are encouraging me!! Sarah
