I had a bit of a struggle last week. I never did get time to plan meals and I'll say right now that making up meals as I go has not been the most frugal way to tend to them at all. I did a wee bit better today in using ingredients on hand which Sam used to make pizzas.
My other struggles were of my own making. I overdid it in the yard Wednesday morning and on Thursday spent the whole of the day in recovery groaning every single time I had to move. Friday morning I was right back at work at the very same job and I walked as though I'd been riding horses for two days when I came in. Oh but it looks so nice! I am really proud of that bit of work done thus far.
I've a long list of projects and getting the right balance of time vs. projects vs. household needs vs. writing is really a struggle. Add in the extra body in the household (no trouble really) and the changed household rhythm and it feels a bit like we've all begun a new job somehow. In two weeks the dynamics will change again when Bess and Josh move in for a few weeks while they close on their new home and get some necessary work done on the floors
This week...Oh this week I hope to accomplish more, plan better, be better all around. I'll be satisfied to get through it!
...I plan meals:
Saturday's are pizza days. Samuel makes an absolutely lovely pizza dough. Near as I can tell thus far it's made with bread flour, yeast, warm water, salt and olive oil. I've no clue about amounts only that he knows when it looks and feels right.
BBQ Chicken Pizza, Veggie Pizza
Sam used leftover fajita chicken breast to top this pizza.
On my own
and not in the least sorry about it!
On my own again
Meatball Shish Kebab, Brown Rice Pilaf, Steamed Vegetables (not sure just what yet), Salad
Tuna Pasta Salad, Saltines, fresh fruit
on my own
Oven Fried Chicken, Potato Salad, Coleslaw
...I plan my work week
You could just read last week's list and see all that didn't get done. So all that and:
Start next area of mulching.
Begin spray painting and recovering the dining room chairs (I'll just do them one at a time)
Write a few blog posts.
...I plan for fun
I don't really want to plan fun this week. I do plan to relax and rest a little every day. Last week was a tough one to get through with the heavy work and the discomfort that left me in. I have a lot of things to do and a great desire to do them but I also want to take care of me. This week I mean to lie down for at least a half hour each day (afternoon) and to take time to read on the back porch.

The picture of the housewife with the clothesline with the panties is hilarious! My grandmother always hung underclothes inside of other clothing on the line so that no one could see them so it has always made me feel weird about it, too.
We go to the lakehouse on Tuesday afternoon for the rest of the week. My birthday is Thursday so I am excited about a rest this week and a special day with hubby.
Happy Mother's Day!
Super easy pizza crust recipe for when Samuel moves-
Combine 1 cup warm water, 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. sugar. Add 1 Tablespoon yeast and stir until dissolved. Add 2 Tablespoons oil and 2 1/2 cups bread flour or all purpose but bread flour makes a difference. Beat well with a spoon for 20 strokes. Cover with a towel and let rise for 15 minutes. I make a 14 inch pizza with this. Bake at 375 on a stone or 400 on a pan for 16-18 minutes. Even easier to throw everything in the bread machine and let it do the dough cycle. I have made this dough for about 30 years.
Lana, thanks for the recipe.. I will try it..
Proud you and John are enjoying the wonderful spring weather. [such a sweet thing John said..]
