Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man's nostrils, and the man became a living person.
God made man before he rested on the seventh day. In chapter 2, it expands how he made man. We learn that man was created last of the all the living things, and he was made of the dust of the earth.
First, take note of these things: he made man in his own image. and then he breathed into man.
Not just any form, but the form of God himself!
Not just any breath! It was the very breath of God breathed into that human. The Spirit of God in man!
1John 4:4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit that lives in the world.
We are the vessel God created in his image. We are born and live because he gave his breath, his Spirit, to a pile of dust, pulled from the earth which he'd created. My goodness!
Psalm 139:4 I praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made...
We forget. We forget that we are not only God's own creation but that we are made to be like him physically and that we hold his spirit within us. We are his own creation, but we carry him within us as well. That's worth remembering.
